October is here, and in the Northern Hemisphere, that often means the days are flush with falling leaves, chilling weather, and growing anticipation for the holiday season. The tenth month, October, shares a root with octopus and octagon—the Latin octo and Greek okto, meaning “eight.” Like the number “three”, “eight” is also symbol of prosperity, wealth, peace and fertility. October is typically the time of the year when farmers reap their harvest, hoping that their crop will prove to be abundant. Since it is the time to harvest the hard work you have put in I want to remind you and myself that life, your work, your relationships, and your healing are not a competition. We live in a world and society where we have to measure everything by how much we have and how successful we are so we push so hard, work so hard to have more, be better... But if you would stop comparing every aspect of your life do you think you will enjoy the harvest of your work more? Since we talk about octopus in the beginning let's make this harvest month about fluidity, adapting and really enjoying the life you have created for yourself. (a must watch documentary on Netflix "My Teacher The Octopus), feel everything using all your senses.
11 years ago in the middle of my masters program I had decided that before I finished school I would go to South Africa(the documentary I told you about is filmed there, abd Trevor Noah is from there💚) , work and travel, learn, grow... Well, that never happened and for a long time I lived in a space of regret. But 10 years ago on Oct 10th.. Madly in love and with a heart full of new dreams my Gypsy soul moved to the USA, leaving behind my dream of being a probation officer and guiding young adults and teenagers on better paths, my home country, my friends, my family and everything that I knew.. For a dream of love. But that love story, that broken relationship will be another page. I just want to say thank you D. , to you for loving me and trying to build with me, and I am sorry if you hurt at times but we had to go through this in order to be here today, you are my teacher. I have learned my lessons. I will always honor our love.
But October is not about lost loves, and broken dreams, it is about harvest, so here is the deal...instead of pushing for more and trying harder, take October as a time of stillness look at the last 5, 10, 20 years of your life, look where you are at now. Harvest your lessons, your gifts, your relationships, your love, your breakdowns and your get-ups.
Look at all the people you have touched, look at all the people that have come into your life, some for a season, some for a lifetime. This is harvest. We are harvesting life experiences.
Now look at your personal journey, look how many times your survived, you adapted, you moved on. You are a Rockstar my darling, you are so beautiful even when you are tender. You are so strong and persistent even when you feel like it is the end of the world. You are light when all you see is dark.
And you are healing even when it hurts.
So this October let's harvest.
HARVEST life experiences, harvest loves and look how far you have come.
Today I harvest a beautiful healing space, with beautiful people, I harvest lessons of love, acceptance and compassion, I harvest amazing placed I have seen, the cultures I have learned the hugs I got . I harvest 10 years of hard work with good times and learning times. I am loved and I love myself (even if it took 10 years). But most importantly I, harvest beautiful relationships based on honesty, raw emotion and humanity. Thank you for being part of my life, thank you for being my teachers and my lessons.
Love and gratitude always
Loredana
